When is the bond refunded?

Within 10 business days after you return the car. Refunds are processed on Wednesdays, so returning on a Thursday or Friday can take a little longer than returning on a Monday.

What can be taken from the bond

Under the rental terms, costs you leave behind: missing fuel, extra cleaning, unpaid tolls or fines, and damage up to your excess. If there is nothing to charge, you get all of it back.

Checklist to get the whole bond back

  1. Take photos of the car all around at pickup and at return.
  2. Return it with the same fuel level.
  3. Take out rubbish and food (delivery drivers: check under the seats).
  4. Keep track of the toll roads you use: unpaid tolls are charged back to you.
  5. Report any damage straight away; hiding it costs more.
  6. On long hires, give at least 5 days' notice before returning.
